773 baptisms and 738 burials at St. Giles in Durham city, covering 1819-1835, from the Bishop’s Transcript. We also took this opportunity to add the witnesses to the 323 marriages for 1813-1837, giving you 752 more opportunities to find your ancestor witnessing a marriage. In addition to St. Giles, residences mentioned include Belmont, Carrville, Claypath, Gilesgate, Gilesgate Moor, Kepier, Old Durham, Pittington, and Durham St. Nicholas.

We discovered a problem with Easington St Mary the Virgin baptisms from 1798-1812, in which the father’s nativity and occupation had been accidentally omitted during our data upload process. These have now been added back in. We have tried to notify all customers who bought these records, but if you were not notified, and you purchased a baptism at this church between 1798 and 1812 inclusive, you might want to log in and check My Previous Orders to see if any fatherly details have been added to your record. We also found one baptism that had been missed, and made corrections to several others. We also added father’s occupations to all the baptisms in 1833 and 1837 (and we’ll continue to add occupations to other years in this parish as we have time).
479 baptisms and 301 burials at Ingleton St. John the Evangelist from the start of this parish to the end of 1876, from the Bishop’s Transcript. Ingleton was carved out of Staindrop parish in Nov 1844, with the first burial in its graveyard in 1845. It served residents of Hilton, Hulam, Ingleton, Killerby, and Wackerfield aka Walkerfield. When checking some of these against the original register, we noted that the original register includes birthdates for many of these people, but these birthdates were not copied to the Bishop’s Transcript from which we transcribed. These birthdates are available in the original register and are also in the IGI.
Residences listed include Carrs Hill, Felling, Gateshead, Gateshead Fell, Heworth, Lamesley, Whickham, Wrekenton, and quite a few people from across the river in Newcastle.
