261 baptisms and 168 burials at Hurworth All Saints, covering 1836-1841, from the Bishop’s Transcript. The baptisms only go to April 1841; we will finish out the year shortly. Most baptisms include birthdates, which is especially helpful if the child was baptized several years after birth, like these:

  • 30 Jun 1837 Mary Brack, of Hurworth, born 5-May 1834, daughter of William Brack (baker) & Mary
  • 27 Sep 1840 Christopher Smith, of Glass House Yard, AldersgateStreet, London, born 2-Jun 1835, son of Christopher Smith (shoemaker) & Emma

The cleric also continued listing spouses,  parents, and occupations for some burials (but not all) although it was no longer required:

  • buried 1 Mar 1841 Elizabeth Oliver, of Hurworth, age: 33, wife of Thomas Oliver
  • 7 Sep 1837 Jane Belwood, of Hurworth, age: an infant, daughter of Susannah
  • 11 Sep 1838 William Goldsbrough, of Neesham, age: 83, cartwright
  • 19 Jun 1838 Margaret Banks, of Hurworth, age: 83

Since we had to be in this register, we also added the witnesses to the 183 marriages we had between 1813 and mid-1837, giving you 650 new witnesses to check for your ancestral connections.  We also added 3 marriages in the 2nd half of 1837.
