Trimdon marriages 1853-1856

61 marriages at Trimdon St. Mary Magdalene covering 1853-1856, from the bishop’s transcript. These are the fully detailed marriages of the civil registration era. For example:

  • 6 Jun 1855 Charles Sheraton (bachelor, joiner), full age, of Trimdon, son of John Sheraton (joiner) married Mary Alderson (widow), full age, of Trimdon, daughter of George Huscraft (farmer), by licence
    Witnesses: Michael Maddison, Elizabeth Sheraton

Most of these brides & grooms lived at the collieries of Trimdon and Trimdon Grange, with a few hailing from Ferryhill, Monk Heseldon, and as far away as Richmond and Liverpool.

Added witnesses to 1813-1837 marriages at Dinsdale, Etherley, Great Stainton, Hart, Whitworth

Added witnesses to our existing marriages at Dinsdale, Etherley, Great Stainton, Hart, and Whitworth for 1813-1837. If you previously purchased a marriage at either place, you can now see the witnesses by logging in, clicking My Previous Orders in the left menu, looking for the marriage, then viewing it to see the witnesses (all free, of course, since you already paid for this record). This addition also provides several hundred new witnesses to search in, and we found 2 marriages at Hart that we missed the first time around.
