Added witnesses to 1813-1837 marriages at Dinsdale, Etherley, Great Stainton, Hart, Whitworth

Added witnesses to our existing marriages at Dinsdale, Etherley, Great Stainton, Hart, and Whitworth for 1813-1837. If you previously purchased a marriage at either place, you can now see the witnesses by logging in, clicking My Previous Orders in the left menu, looking for the marriage, then viewing it to see the witnesses (all free, of course, since you already paid for this record). This addition also provides several hundred new witnesses to search in, and we found 2 marriages at Hart that we missed the first time around.

All Anglican marriages 1813 to July 1837

With the addition of the last set of Monkwearmouth marriages, we now have transcriptions of ALL the marriages that occurred in Anglican (Church of England) churches and chapels in County Durham from January 1813 to July 1837 (when Civil Registration started). Why this period? Because, for many parishes, the IGI lists marriages up to the end of 1812, but not beyond, so these marriages have not been easily accessible online until recently. Even for parishes whose marriages are listed in the IGI past 1813, our transcriptions may provide details such as marital status, place of residence, or witnesses whose names may prove helpful in identifying the bride or groom. (We are working on adding witnesses to the marriages; currently about 20% of the parishes have marriage witnesses recorded for this period.)
