Heworth & Jarrow burials 1765-1797

2,212 burials at Jarrow St. Paul and the Chapelry of Heworth, covering 1765-1797. Until 1808, burials at Heworth were recorded in the Jarrow register, so we have filed these all under Jarrow. For 1765-1768, the burial register shows the abode instead of the burial place; we assume that if a person lived at Heworth, they were probably buried there also. For 1769-1797, the burial register shows where the person was buried, but generally not where they lived. For example:

  • 2 Mar 1765 Jane Sandiland, of Heworth, wife of William Sandiland
  • 21 Nov 1768 James Henderson, of Shields, son of James Henderson
  • 31 Mar 1769 Hannah Byers, of Whickham, buried at Jarrow
  • 4 Nov 1769 Ann Rennison, wife of Robert Rennison, buried at Jarrow
  • 23 Dec 1774 James [Mullet/Yeoman], illegitimate son of James Mullet & Ann Yeoman, buried at Heworth
  • 10 Feb 1790 Edward Wilson, glass merchant, buried at Jarrow
  • 8 Oct 1792 Joseph Cockfield, son of Thomas Cockfield, buried at Heworth
  • 5 Mar 1795 Hannah Goodrick, wife of Thomas Goodrick, buried at Jarrow
  • 17 Dec 1797 Roger Kynaston, buried at Heworth
