Replaced the index to baptisms at Whickham St. Mary for 1813-1819 with full details, so those 992 baptisms are now instantly available, including one we had missed the first time around. We were delighted to find that the record keepers in this parish continued recording parental birthplaces and the name of the mother’s father, long after it was no longer required. For example:

• 5 May 1816 Sarah Lister, of Whickham, born 15-Apr 1816, 4th daughter of John Lister (mason, native of this parish) by his wife Sarah Atkinson (native of Bishopwearmouth, daughter of William)
• 14 Apr 1819 Cecilia Dobson, of Swalwell, born 17-Feb 1818, 2nd daughter of Thomas Dobson (smith, native of this parish) by his wife Elizabeth Richardson (native of Felton, [Northumberland], daughter of John)

We should all be so lucky as to have had Whickham ancestors in this period !
