Will of John Dawson, Blue Quarries, Jarrow, 1811

This is the last Will and Testament of me John Dawson of the Blue Quarries in the Parish of Jarrow in the County of Durham Grindstone Quarryman I give and bequeath unto my dear Wife the use of all my Household Furniture Linen and Woollen during her natural Life Provided she shall continue my Widow and after her second Marriage or Decease which shall first happen I give and bequeath the same and all other my Personal Estate not hereinafter disposed of unto my two Daughters Sarah and Mary equally to be divided between them I give and bequeath unto William Haswell of Felling Colliery in the said County his Ex’ors Adm’ors and Assigns All my Leasehold Dwellinghouse and Heredits situate at the Blue Quarries aforesaid Upon Trust to permit my said Wife and her Assigns to live in and enjoy the same or otherwise to take and receive the rents and profits thereof for her and their own Use during the Term of her natural Life in case she shall remain my Widow and immediately after her Death or second Marriage which shall first happen Upon Trust to assign and make over the said Dwellinghouse and Heredits unto my Son William his Ex’ors Adm’ors and Assigns charged and chargeable nevertheless with the immediate payment of the Sum of ten Pounds to each of my Children John George Sarah and Mary I give and bequeath unto the said William Haswell his Ex’ors Adm’ors and Assigns the Sum of four hundred and twenty six pounds five shillings and ninepence three Per Centum Consolidated Bank Annuities now standing in my Name in the Books of the Governor and Company of the Bank of England Upon Trust to receive the Interest and Dividends thereof and pay the same as they shall respectively be received unto my said Wife or her Assigns during the Term of her natural Life in case she shall remain my Widow and immediately after her Death or second Marriage which shall first happen Upon Trust to sell and dispose of the said Sum of four hundred and twenty six pounds five shillings and ninepence three Per Centum Consolidated Bank Annuities and out of the Proceeds thereof after deducting all expences to Pay unto my said Son William the Sum of one hundred Pounds unto my said Son George the Sum of one hundred and five Pounds unto my said Daughter Sarah the Sum of Sixty Pounds And unto my said Daughter Mary the Sum of Thirty Pounds And unto my Grandson John Heppel the Sum of five Pounds And hereby revoking all former Wills by me at Any time heretofore made I declare this to be and contain my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal the seventeenth Day of January in the Year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and eleven John Dawson
